Stump grinding is just one of many tree and large hedge related services that we can offer.
I would really recommend George and his partner James for a very professional enthusiastic and safe job. They both worked non-stop and with a very knowledgeable degree of expertise, leaving everything neat and today on completion and a joy to have around talking me through various jobs intended to be carried out before they tackled different obstacles. Stump grinding involves using a petrol/diesel-driven machine with a cutting head to grind away a stump into small pieces of wood chip. This is continued to a depth of approximately 6 inches (or as deep as we can manage!) reaching all the visible surface roots as well. When we reach the maximum depth the hole left by the stump is then back-filled with the wood chip and the remainder of the stump will rot away under the surface. Any remaining sawdust will be removed as per waste removal regulations.
Anything that we can get our machines too! We have two main machines currently in use – one that can get through most garden gates and another larger machine we use for bigger projects.
Our smaller machine (DR 9HP model) will easily grind stumps up to 2 foot in diameter.
Our larger machine (Bandit 2550) will grind stumps over 2 foot in diameter – we would be surprised if you could find a stump it couldn’t manage. The added benefit of this machine is it can squeeze through entrances as small as 30 inches wide!
We will always provide you with a free, personalised quote tailored to your exact needs but estimated costs are as follows:
These will differ depending on the number of stumps included (bulk discount may be available) and other aspects including garden access and access to the stump itself.
